1. How do I cool the gel packs?

Place the gel pack in the freezer or refrigerator, depending on how cold you want the wrap to get.

2. How do I heat the gel packs?

The PowerPlay gel packs can be heated in the microwave for up to one minute. Make sure the heat is distributed evenly throughout the wrap before using.

3. How cold do the gel packs get?

Depending on the method you choose to cool your gel pack (freezer, refrigerator or submerged in ice), it can get as cold as 17˚ F. It is important to always use a protective barrier between the gel pack and your skin as to avoid any tissue damage. You may also choose to let the gel pack sit at room temperature for a few minutes before applying. “Therapeutic cold” has been shown to be between 40 and 60 degrees F, so you may prefer a gel pack from the refrigerator or ice chest as opposed to a freezer.

4. How long do the gel packs take to cool after being at room temperature?

Typically, it takes about one hour in the freezer for the gel pack to cool completely.

5. Can I put the frozen gel packs directly on the skin?

NEVER put a cold gel pack directly on the skin. Always use a protective barrier such as a light T-shirt, sock, or any other thin cloth between the skin and the gel pack. A protective barrier is included with each gel pack.

6. How long do the gel packs stay cold?

The gel packs will stay cold when kept in the insulated carrying case for 4-6 hours, and it will stay cold during treatment for 20-40 minutes. Extra gel packs may be purchased for $35 each if extras are needed.

7. What if I don’t have a freezer for my gel packs?

If you do not have access to a refrigerator or freezer, the PowerPlay Ice Bag can be purchased additionally for $35. The Ice Bag comes with two plastic inserts that can be filled with ice and water. The ice bag attaches to the inside of the Knee, Elbow or Hip wraps just like the gel packs.

8. How do I clean the gel packs?

You can wipe down the gel packs with 3% hydrogen peroxide or sanitary wipes.
